Q8Research is a part of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the state-owned oil company of Kuwait. Our activities encompass new product development, specifications for materials and products, legislation compliance and quality control. We also provide product testing certification and quality control services to the Kuwait Petroleum organization and to third party customers. This entails problem solving, optimizing the daily operations and employing the latest test techniques.
Q8Research is building expertise on alternative fuels as an answer the growing demand for renewable energy in transport. Every section of KPRT works in close harmony to create single unit of expertise and experience. Our laboratory services are complemented by our ability to transfer chemical and physical performance into high performance, cost effective products. This wide-ranging expertise enables KPRT to offer a consultancy service and services for many other aspects of the transport fuel industry such as SHE, market intelligence, legislation and training.

Role in BioSFerA

The main role of Q8Research in this project is to assess the potential to use the products of the fermentations into liquid fuels and the feasibility to market them from commercial and legal point of view
Specifically Q8Ressearch will:

  • assessment of the business cases and exploitation strategy (blending, co-processing and commercialization, “in situ” consumption, etc.);
  • assess products against legal specifications/requirements
  • qualify products as blend-stock (or pure) or co-processing liquids for jet fuel and diesel);
  • developing tests for the validation of the technology up to TRL 6 (pilot plant demonstration in a relevant/industrial;
  • assess legal feasibility in view of REDII regulations.
