SUMITOMO SHI FW (SFW), part of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd., is a world leader with over 500 circulating fluidized bed (CFB) steam generating units, bringing highly efficient technology solutions to utilities, independent power generators, municipalities and industrial clients. SFW has offered for decades CFB gasifier units for the waste-to-energy sector, as well as developed oxy-firing and calcium looping solutions based on sustainable fuels for carbon capture storage and utilization (CCSU) applications. In addition, SFW has recently expanded to the energy services sector with storage and digitalization solutions.

Role in BioSFerA

SFW’s main responsibility area in the project is the scale-up and techno-economic assessment of the gasification island, including auxiliary components, i.e. the front end of the developed concept. In addition, SFW’s technical experience for more than 20 years in operating and developing fluidized bed gasifiers would be consulted in the pilot test campaigns planned within the project duration, as well as gasifier unit design optimization.
